Club Qing

Discover the fascinating world of Club Qing, the independent bottler bridging the gap between vibrant Hong Kong and the Scottish whisky tradition.

Founded by the influential whisky expert Aaron Chan, Club Qing started in 2015 as an exclusive whisky bar in Central, Hong Kong. This bar quickly grew into a respected platform that selects and bottles some of the world’s rarest single cask whiskies.

Beyond the Cask: The Art of the Series

What sets Club Qing apart from other independent bottlers is its uncompromising focus on quality and its distinctive artistic identity. Every bottling is a single cask expression, typically bottled at cask strength, ensuring an intense and authentic flavour experience. Their releases are instantly recognizable through strong, thematic series, which elevate the bottles into true collectibles:

  • Bottled Realities: This conceptual line features surreal, often satirical artwork that comments on modern society and culture. The releases are frequently paired with experimental casks (like unique sherry vatting or long-term Virgin Oak) to match the unusual theme.

  • Meowtellica: An irreverent and highly popular line that pays tribute to heavy metal and pop culture, featuring cats in rock-themed scenarios. These releases typically hold powerful, robust single malts suitable for their vibrant themes.

  • Happy Loner and Scary Tale Series: Other prominent lines, with ‘Happy Loner’ offering elegant designs for contemplative drams, and ‘Scary Tale’ featuring darker, narrative themes, often bottling older, complex spirits.

Aaron Chan: Visionary and Producer

The soul of the company is Aaron Chan, whose deep knowledge of both Scottish and Japanese whisky leads to the selection of these exceptional casks. Chan’s ambition extends beyond mere selection; he is also one of the three co-founders of the new Kythe Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands, alongside Angus MacRaild (Whisky Maker) and Jonny McMillan (Distillery Manager). This highly ambitious project aims to revive an ‘extinct’ style of pre-1960s Highland malt, reinforcing Chan’s position as a key figure in the international whisky community.

Aaron Chan’s involvement with the Kythe Distillery, together with co-founders Angus MacRaild and Jonny McMillan, confirms his production expertise, but this does not imply any direct import or distribution agreements with Hogshead Imports for Kythe.

With Club Qing, you are not just acquiring a bottle; you are acquiring a piece of whisky history, selected by one of Asia’s most respected independent bottlers.
